Mike & Tia's Girls Bear & Hobbit

Last week she got an invitation to the gifted and talented program at school. She gets to get out of class 2x a week for an hour or so to participate in their Reach program.  More interesting homework, certainly! 

Then yesterday she comes home from school and asks for a chess set.  They are learning chess in her regular class.  I am *loving* her teacher right now, because I think its an awesome idea.  Kids her age are so receptive to learning games and rules - its so great!  So, we went shopping for Rosa's birthday party on Saturday and found a cheapy $3 chess set at Target (I offered to buy the $10 one, but she wanted the $3! one... strange child...).  When Mike got home from this one-off job he had, he and Sophie sat down to play chess.  They ended in a stalemate! Mike helped a lot, showing her what moves were possible, but letting her decide which was best.  I couldn't believe it!

And now today... Mike's mom bought her a crapload of books from the Scholastic book order thing, Goosebumps, Guiness Book of World Records, and what does she open first and sit down with?  One of a set of poetry books - Carl Sandburg.  She sat in the living room, completely ignoring us laughing at potty humor on TV and reading Carl Sandburg.  Oy!

Man, she's a great kid...

I had no idea Rosa could jump up and down with both feet!  She can do it on the big pink ball at Grandma's house!

Tonight, after I got home from Craft and Chat, Rosa comes to me while I'm at the computer saying "Hunry! Hunry!" I thought she was saying help me, but it wasn't quite the same...  she was telling me she's HUNGRY!  She led me to the fridge and I opened it, something we do a lot.  She asked if the bagels were cookies, and I offered her a cookie... But as I looked for the cookies, she had grabbed and started eating a whole tomato.  So, I obligingly took the stickers off the tomato and let her eat it.  She eat the whole thing like an apple.  Picture to follow! :)

Sophie is going to be a bride's Maid in Becky's wedding!  She's so excited. :)

Rosie popped up awake in bed and immediately asked for Zu Zu (her nickname for sophia).  I said she wasn't here, Rosie responded with "oh..zu zu guy?".  Guy is Sophie's dad, and it seemed like Rosie understood that Sophie was at her daddy''s house.  Then she noticed I was playing Madden football and said "ahh..ball!" and fell back down on the pillow.

 

Last night we sang Itsty Bitsy Spider before bed and Rosa kept asking for more, signing more with her hands and asking with words.  We did "Great Big Spider" in a low voice and tickled her at the end.  When she asked for more, papa said she had to sing it.  So what does this little troublemaker do?  She does her version of The great big spider and tickles *us* at the end.  She had both of us laughing.  Of course, this was at 1130pm...
